TiC’s Favourite Christmas Movies of All Time

A hot cup of cocoa, some marshmallows, a huge bowl of popcorn and a blanket – That’s all you need to enjoy a good Christmas movie (or maybe ten)! Here are our favourites Chrismas-y movies to get you in the Christmas spirit this weekend.

The Rom-Com Chick-Flicks

Love Actually

Starring: Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, Alan Rickman, January Jones (oh how the list just keeps going on…).

We love this heart warming, star-studded tale of eight couples and their romantic adventures during Christmas.

The Holiday

Starring: Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black.

Two ladies, unlucky in love, look for a change of scenery and swap houses. See how their lives change with this simple switch.

The Family Stone

Starring: Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Rachel McAdams, Dermot Mulroney and Claire Danes.

Being introduced to your fiancé’s family this Christmas? When in doubt, call your sister for back up.

Nightmare Before Christmas

Produced and based on a poem written by Tim Burton, a story of how Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween town tries to bring Christmas under his hold. Plot twist included, naturally.

A Christmas Carol

Starring: Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman and Colin Firth

A funny animated remake of the traditional story of the three ghosts of Christmas and one man’s second shot at life.

Home Alone

This had to be on our list! We love this movie – the sentimental value, the hilarious mess-ups, and Macaulay Culkin is just adorable!

The Santa Clause

Starring: Tim Allen, Eric Lloyd and Peter Boyle.

Who wants to be the next Santa Claus?

Elf

Starring: Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel and Peter Dinklage.

Will Ferrell stars in this comedy about an elf that learns of his true identity and journeys to New York to meet his biological father.

Miracle on 34th Street

Starring: Richard Attenborough, Elizabeth Perkins, Dylan McDermott, J. T. Walsh, Timothy Shea, James Remar, Jane Leeves, Simon Jones, William Windom and Mara Wilson

A beautiful Christmas story about seeing and believing.

It’s A Wonderful Life

Starring: James Stewart and Donna Reed.

A heart warming story of sacrificing ones dreams to help others on Christmas eve.

The old-school fashion kills us every time.
